Following a proper hair care routine is crucial if we want to achieve healthy, shiny hair in every situation. One essential element is hair conditioner, which, when made with the right, gentle ingredients, can make even the most unmanageable hair shiny, soft, and silky. But what exactly is hair conditioner, and when should it be used? Let’s find out together.

What is Hair Conditioner, and How Does it Work?

Also known as a conditioner and less fluid than traditional conditioner, hair conditioner is a softening and nourishing hair product that, thanks to its enriched ingredients, restores shine and softness. The benefits of applying this product, however, are not merely aesthetic: the conditioner acts deeply, hydrating and caring for the hair shaft. Regular, prolonged, and daily use allows hair to regenerate and appear more cared for and healthy from the very first applications.

When to Use Hair Conditioner?

This product is suitable for all hair types and should be used regularly with every wash. Obviously, choosing one with specific properties based on your hair type will achieve greater and better results. It’s important to apply conditioner after shampooing, not before: to thoroughly cleanse hair, shampoo opens the cuticles, and the conditioner’s job is to re-seal the hair. This action protects the hair from external agents that could damage it, such as the heat of styling, the sun’s ultraviolet rays, and airborne pollutants. It can therefore always be used as a continuous treatment in your hair care routine. It’s also particularly suitable as an “intensive” treatment for dry, damaged hair, or hair that otherwise needs extra hydration.

But that’s not all; it’s also recommended for hair that tangles easily, as it allows you to detangle it without suffering and without having to aggressively brush it. On damp hair, simply run your fingers through it, and the knots will quickly come out.

How to Apply Hair Conditioner Correctly?

As mentioned, hair conditioner should be applied after shampooing: yes, but how? First of all, the amount shouldn’t be excessive, otherwise it will weigh down the hair and make it look greasy. A small amount is more than enough. Then, apply it to the entire length of the hair, trying to avoid the scalp, and leave it on for a few minutes. Finally, rinse: use warm water and rinse thoroughly to ensure all traces of the product have been removed. Once the hair is dry, the result will be stunning: smooth, soft, and silky hair.
